Patina & PersonalityHow Natural Stone Evolves Over Time

Not every surface is meant to remain flawless – and natural stone is proof of that. For centuries, marble, limestone, and other stones have been cherished not only for their inherent beauty, but for the way they transform over time.

Heather Weisz, Principal Designer at HW Interiors, has a clear point of view: marble was non-negotiable. “I know it can be controversial in kitchens, especially in the U.S., where perfection is often prioritized over patina,” she explains. “But living and traveling through Europe and South America, especially Argentina – my husband’s home country – I fell in love with how natural stone is celebrated there. Scratches, etchings, and wear aren’t flaws; they’re memories.”

After a decade of designing dream homes for others, Heather finally turned her focus to her own kitchen in Wellington, Florida. With Opustone slabs now being installed, she’s creating a space that feels both personal and soulful – one designed to evolve with daily life rather than resist it. For Heather, the beauty of marble lies not just in how it looks on day one, but in how it transforms over time. A full reveal from HW Interiors is coming soon.

Opustone helped bring our vision to life with materials that feel timeless and soulful. Their slabs don’t just serve a function, they anchor the space with natural beauty and character.

When stone ages, it doesn’t lose value, it gains personality. It becomes art from the earth, layered with life.
